03 Jul Review, Ingredients, Photos: X Out Wash-In Acne Treatment Cleanser – With Benzoyl Peroxide
Acne, zits, pimples… whatever you want to call them, they are a problem for a lot of us! If you are anything like me, you’ve been on the search for the Holy Grail acne-reducing product. Hopefully, unlike me, you have found it. I, however, am still searching. Today I’m here to share with you a product called X Out Wash-In Treatment brought to you by the makers of Proactiv. This face wash is ideally geared towards teens but could be used by anyone, any age.
Let’s first talk about what this product claims to do: the Wash-In Treatment is something that penetrates deeply into the pores to fight bacteria, long after you have washed; it also claims to give a cooling sensation. Finally, it claims to have three uses in one: a face wash, spot treatment and facial mask — the main ingredient being benzoyl peroxide (8.5%).

Just for reference, I have oily/severe acne prone skin. I typically always have a few blemishes around the chin and/or cheek area at some point. I think this product would work better for someone who has an occasional breakout once in a while and is only looking for a product to really cleanse the skin. I don’t think it’s strong enough to clear up acne for someone who suffers from persistent breakouts, but would be better used as a product to prevent pimples for those who do not suffer from ongoing acne. I think the best skin type to benefit from this product would probably be combination to oily; I think if you have dry skin, it might cause the skin to become more flaky and dry unless you use a great moisturizer.
As a face wash, it’s not bad at all. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed, and it does live up to the slight cooling effect that it claims to have. However, I don’t feel this is a strong enough product to really be aimed at teens suffering from acne unless they have very, very MILD acne. As far as using this product as a mask, I left it on for the allotted ten minutes, and my skin was basically burning after I washed it off. Used as a spot treatment was also a fail. I’m very sad to say these things because I had such high hopes for this product!
One more thing about the actual product I want to add is that it has these very tiny, little exfoliating beads in it. I find that they are extremely difficult to wash off of your skin and also are a little abrasive for skin with acne that is sensitive. They also tend to get stuck in areas such as your eyebrows, and often if you run your fingers over your brows twenty minutes later, you will notice several of these small beads still there. The packaging has a little QR code you can scan which will give you a two minute video on your smart phone to keep you entertained while you are washing your face. I did think this was a cute touch since this product is aimed towards teens, as I have said. It also has a nice dispenser that releases just the right amount of product with one pump, maybe one and a half if you like a richer lather.
The product I tested out is a seven ounce bottle. I visited www.xout.com and you can see that they have two packages you can choose to purchase: the Basic Kit, which comes with the Wash-In Treatment and a Cleansing Bar for your body, or, the Deluxe Kit, which comes with the Wash-In Treatment, Spot Corrector, Shine Control as well as the Cleansing Bar.
The Basic Kit is $19.95 plus free shipping for a 30-day supply and the Deluxe Kitis $29.95 for the same number of days. Please note that it appears the Wash-In Treatment is a much smaller size in both of these kits. Check out the website to find more information on the prices of these products at www.xout.com.
