When I sat down with a few friends to try out the cold drinks that Guayaki Yerba Mate sent me, we spread out Dixie cups on the table and poured small portions into each one. It was the perfect time for a taste test in my apartment because our lease was ending and most of the entertainment had already been moved out.

We sat down and went through each flavor, each person giving their full opinion. I was sent five out of the seven cold Guayaki Yerba Mate flavors. We tried the first energy drink expecting something different than what we received. Guayaki Yerba Mate tastes like tea with different flavors added in.
The first flavor that we tried was Pure Passion. It has a passionfruit undertone that left us wondering if we should be expecting more from the juice or the tea. The two flavors could still be distinguished, but neither one over powered the other.

The next one that we tried was the Empower Mint. Anyone who appreciates mint tea will appreciate this drink. It tasted like tea with a slight mint aftertaste that left your mouth feeling fresh.
The Traditional Mate was next. It is just traditional Guayaki Yerba Mate that is slightly sweetened. I think that one of my friends described it best when she said that it tasted like leaves. The whole drink itself tasted like tea, but the aftertaste did hint of leaves. Now, Guayaki Yerba Mate was also nice enough to send me tea bags, one of which was Traditional Yerba Mate. We discovered that if honey is added to the Traditional Yerba Mate, the mixture of flavors is delicious.
Pure Mind was next. It is a Pomegranate blend. This flavor had a stronger fruit juice flavor than tea. The tea was almost an aftertaste, but the drink itself was very good.
Sadly I could not try the last kind do to the fact that I am allergic to orange juice, but it was called Pure Endurance. It was a citrus blend and I think that was the favorite of the others who were trying the flavors. They said that the tea and the citrus played off of each other extremely well.

As I noted before, I also received tea bags from the Guayaki. We didn’t try all of them because most of the flavors were similar to the ones that we tried cold. One of my roommates tried the Traditional Mate, and I tried the Empower Mint and Chai. The Empower Mint smelled like pure spearmint when I removed it from the packet and it tasted just like the cold drink except that I could sweeten it to my own personal liking.
Before I talk about the Chai I have to explain that Chai is my favorite type of tea. I would turn down coffee for Chai anytime and I’ve had all different types of Chai. This Chai had the flavor of a Chai drink that you could get at Starbucks. If I had been running low on my supply of Chai tea, I would have considered buying some more of Guayaki’s.
If you are wondering whether or not the drinks provide the proper energy you might need during those late nights studying, I can tell you that after drinking those taste cups full of different flavors, my roommates and I started packing our rooms very efficiently! I could feel the extra energy and my friends agreed that they could feel it too.
So if you’re looking to try a different energy drink that is organic and you’re a fan of tea, I suggest you trying out Guayaki Yerba Mate.
