As I come to the end of my 3rd tube of Weleda Skin Food I feel compelled to write a review of this absolute hero which quite rightfully won the Vogue Beauty Natural Skincare Phenomenon Award 2020. I first found out about this cream about a year ago when I was suffering SO badly with a winter eczema flare. I had seen it mentioned a few times on Instagram by people who also suffered from eczema so I decided to purchase and see if the hype was worth it. Spoiler Alert if you don’t have time to read any more – IT WAS 100% worth it!

As I have mentioned in the past, I would categorise my skin as dry to very dry and sensitive. I have had eczema since I was born and suffered badly as a young child with severe flare ups. My eczema caused me no trouble for a long time but in the past 3 years it has reared its red and itchy head again and I have been trying ANYTHING to get my flare-ups under control.
Enter: Weleda Skin Food. This 75ml tube of MAGIC has brought hydration and a glow back to my face that I worried was gone forever. It saved my parched, red and flaky skin and transformed my face, making it smooth, clear and almost making me forget how awful my eczema can be.
To me, it’s no surprise this moisturiser won so big in this year’s Vogue Beauty Awards and I think you’ll struggle to find anyone who has tried this cream who wouldn’t agree!

Due to my skin type, I struggle to add anything new into my skin care regime. It takes a lot of trial and error usually to find a holy grail type product that I can come back to time and time again and know that it will always provide the help my skin needs. Weleda Skin Food is that product for me. It is incredibly soothing on the skin and even during an especially bad and painful flare I know this cream will offer the relief my skin needs to calm down and get back on track.
What is Weleda Skin Food?
Okay, I’ll stop raving about it and just get down to business. Weleda Skin Food is a cult classic and is now known as a beauty must-have for anyone. It can be used anywhere on the body that needs a little extra TLC i.e elbows, heels, hands etc. It is even touted as many celebrities “miracle cream” – Victoria Beckham swears by it mixed with coconut oil to protect her tan!
Packed full of skin nurturing natural ingredients it’s no surprise it is so well-loved!
Water Sunflower Seed Oil Wool Wax Sweet Almond Oil Beeswax Alcohol Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate Glycerin Limonene Viola Tricolor Extract Hydrolyzed Beeswax Sorbitan Olivate Rosemary Leaf Extract Chamomile Flower Extract Calendula Flower Extract Arginine Zinc Sulfate Fragrance Linalool Geraniol Citral Coumarin
Who is Weleda Skin Food for?
Due to how thick and rich this cream is it is ideal for dry, dehydrated skin. Especially great for people with skin problems like Eczema, Dermatitis and Rosacea but also a must-have for skin that doesn’t deal very well with sudden or extreme weather changes! Weleda Skin Food is a definite Winter skin must-have!
What is Weleda Skin Food like?
This cream has a rich and decadent consistency and only a fingertip amount is enough to provide enough moisture to my face. Despite the tube only being 75ml it lasts so long! I noticed my 3rd tube went down a lot quicker as I was using it up to about 4 times a day (living in a new country as it comes into winter has caused my skin to go mental with dryness) BUT my first 2 tubes lasted me around 2-3 months.
The first thing I noticed about this cream was the SMELL! It honestly smells amazing, like sweet oranges. It is clean and refreshing and really is so lovely to put on your face.
How best to apply Weleda Skin Food?
As it is so thick, the best way to apply this cream is to warm up a fingertip amount between your fingers and then apply gently to your face (or affected area). Warming up the cream helps it to soak into the skin!
How much is Weleda Skin Food?

Weleda Skin Food usually costs £12.95 for a 75ml tube – maybe a bit pricey but considering how good it is and how long it lasts I think it is worth the price.
It’s currently on offer for £11.21 at Boots!
Final thoughts
I will never stop raving about this cream. As someone who suffers with severe eczema and dry skin this has provided much needed relief to my skin and continues to help me even a year after first testing it out! I will continue to repurchase this product every time because it is just THAT good.
If you are looking for a thick and ultra-moisturising cream to aid a skin problem or if you just want something a little richer to save your skin from winter dryness, I can’t recommend this product highly enough!
Waste no more time in getting on the hype for this cult classic and test it out for yourself!
If you do purchase this, let me know how it suits your skin and if it helps!
