Congratulations on accepting an offer! We are looking forward to having you join the team. Below are a few things you can expect during the Pre-Employment and onboarding process before your first day on the job.
HUMAN RESOURCES SHARED SERVICES (HRSS) TEAM
For this next phase in your pre-employment process the HR Shared Services team will be your main contact and is here to assist and guide you through the process. You will be contacted by your HRSS Associate for an introduction and direct contact information. Any questions during the Pre-employment testing and onboarding can be directed to the HRSS team by email at [email protected].

REQUEST FOR INFORMATIONNow that you have accepted your offer you will receive an email with the subject line “Additional information required for your job application…” Please follow the link in the email to provide your Social Security number and date of birth.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGIt’s now time to complete your required pre-employment screenings. Please watch your Inbox for the following emails:
- Background Screening: Truescreen(our background check vendor) will email a link for you to enter your personal information to complete the required Pre-Employment Background Check
- Drug Screening (and related testing as required for the position): DISA Tustin (our drug screen vendor) will email a link within 24 hours of your accepted offer that allows you to schedule your drug screen within the allotted 3 business days along with consent forms you must electronically sign and instructions on how to schedule your drug screen with the clinic
If you completed your drug testing at a recruiting event, you must still click on the link to complete the consent forms only.
Please note: Pre-Employment results may take approximately 7-10 days to complete. *Please check your spam/junk folder if you aren’t receiving emails from @patenergy.com or our vendors; @truescreen.com and @disa.com email addresses.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING TIME CONSTRAINTS
You must respond to the email link to confirm your information and electronically sign the drug and alcohol waiver. Selected candidates must complete the information and report to the Drug and Alcohol testing Facility within three (3) days of receiving the email notification. *Should you need an extension to test beyond the 3 days please contact your HRSS Associate to request an extension for approval.
BACKGROUND CHECK TIPSTo expedite the background check, ONLY enter the information for the high school where you obtained your diploma or where you completed your GED program. DO NOT ENTER any college enrollments or technical schools, unless your role requires a college degree AND you earned a degree. Submit a copy of your diploma, transcript or certificate to Truescreen using the information they provide you to initiate your background check.
ONBOARDING TASKSOnce you successfully clear all required pre-employment screenings, you will be notified to begin your onboarding tasks and electronic new hire paperwork.

You will receive an email with the subject line “Welcome to Patterson-UTI Okta” (Okta is our single sign on authentication provider).Please click the link in the email to activate your account with the username provided. Once you create your account and set up a password you will have access to the Company system to complete your new hire paperwork and onboarding tasks. All Onboarding tasks must be completed as soon as possible before a start date will be established and confirmed.
HELPFUL TIPS DURING ONBOARDINGTip 1) If you encounter any technical issues using the system, try one of the following:
- Use a laptop computer instead of a mobile device
- Use a different browser such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.
- Clear the browsing history and cache on your computer
Tip 2) If the system will not accept your “signature”, please try adding a space after your last name. For example: John (space) Smith (space)
Tip 3) If Tips 1 & 2 aren’t working and you are still encountering issues completing your onboarding please reach out to HRSS at [email protected]
FINAL STAGEOnce you complete all of your onboarding tasks, your Human Resource Representative will contact you to complete the following steps:
- Provide a copy of your Social Security Card for payroll verification
- Complete section 1 of the I-9 Form. You will receive an email from Truescreen. (Please check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive this email)
- Schedule your start date and New Employee Orientation
- On the first day of employment please bring your I-9 Authorized documents (ex: Passport, Driver License, Social Security card)
- Log back in to Oracle HCM through Okta to complete your Direct Deposit, W-4, and Benefits elections
